The Christmas holidays are a special time for giving, but the best gifts don’t always come from a department store. Give the gift of food! Today, I’ve rounded up three gift ideas from my kitchen that can be prettily packaged + a spectacular book recommendation authored by my friend, meditation and wellness teacher, Cassandra Bodzack. These thoughtful presents are Some Kinda Good, and are sure to be well received.
1. Pretty Packages of White Chocolate Peppermint Bark
White Chocolate Peppermint Bark makes a delicious and easy Christmas gift.
With only two ingredients, even the most inexperienced kitchen novice can make my white chocolate peppermint bark without breaking a sweat. Just remember to spread the melted chocolate out in a somewhat thin layer, about 1/4 of inch thick. For a rich and indulgent flavor, use good quality white chocolate. The peppermints not only give this candy a great burst of flavor, but look festive too!
Double-Drizzle Pecan Cookies offer chocolate, caramel and crunch!
This recipe was one of my earliest posts on Some Kinda Good, but great cookies never go out of style. Taste of Home magazine’s Double-Drizzle Pecan Cookies offer caramel, chocolate and pecans! What’s not to love?
Warm bread + homemade jam is a win-win!
Who wouldn’t love a basket of warm bread and homemade jam? This post was originally created during the summer when strawberries and blackberries are in season, but don’t worry. Use berries you can find in the supermarket, and bake a loaf of fresh bread with seasonal spices, such as nutmeg, pumpkin pie spice and cinnamon. Gingerbread or a warm loaf of pumpkin bread would be delicious! If you’re short on time, you can even take a shortcut with a boxed bread mix.
Buy this book for a friend and get an extra copy for yourself. You’re sure to love it!
I’m so proud to recommend this extraordinary cookbook, Eat with Intention, chock-full of ideas for quieting your mind, loving your body and nourishing yourself from the inside out. Cassandra and I met as contestants on ABC TV’s hit reality cooking competition, The Taste. If you watched us on Season 2, you may remember her signature laugh or vegan cupcakes. She is unforgettable! Since the show, she’s launched Eat with Intention TV and authored this enlightening book. When I began reading the introduction, I couldn’t stop!
Cassandra Bodzack is the founder of the online mind-body-soul support community, Aprecity.com and a global meditation and wellness teacher.
Her story is truly compelling and her discoveries about food are inspiring. After developing numerous food allergies, Cassandra’s journey of eating with intention began in college when she was forced to change the way she looked at the food she was putting in her body. As you’ll see, it’s not another book about fad diets, cleanses or eating lettuce. As a holistic lifestyle expert, meditation and wellness teacher and self-taught plant-based chef, Cassandra shares her wisdom on these topics:
How to uncover the foods that are hurting you
How to nourish your body from a place of self-love
How to incorporate a daily gratitude or meditation practice into your life
How to prepare nearly 75 plant-based recipes, each accompanied by a mantra and meditation for eating with purpose and fueling your body
You can order it on Amazon.com just in time for Christmas, or get it wherever books are sold.
Happy gift giving, and Merry Christmas! ❤
