Tip It On Back: Homegrown Jalapeno Margaritas

Just in time for Taco Tuesday, I’m sharing my recipe for homegrown jalapeno margaritas! There’s nothing quite like the refreshing bite of ice cold tequila with a little heat from the jalapeno peppers and a salty, lime-infused rim. I grew these jalapenos in my garden, and love using them in unexpected ways. Enjoy this spicy, cool drink year ’round. Best served with my go-to guacamole and the taco ring.

This recipe combines jalapeno-infused silver tequila with simple syrup and freshly squeezed lime juice for a real treat.

Some Kinda Good Homegrown Jalapeno Margaritas Makes 4 Margaritas (or 3 with a hefty pour)

Ingredients:

  1. ¾ cup silver 1800 Repasodo tequila

  2. ½ jalapeño pepper, sliced, plus extra slices for garnish

  3. ¼ cup Grand Marnier

  4. ½ cup fresh lime juice, plus lime slices for garnish (about 6 limes)

  5. ¼ cup simple syrup

  6. handful of ice

For the rim:

  1. 1/4 cup salt

  2. 1 Tablespoon fresh lime zest

  3. 1 Teaspoon of cayenne pepper

Directions: Pour the tequila into a small pitcher. Add the sliced jalapeño. Set aside at room temperature for 15 minutes (the longer it sits, the hotter it gets!). Add remaining ingredients to the pitcher and stir: Grand Marnier, lime juice and ¼ cup simple syrup.

On a small plate, combine salt, lime zest and cayenne pepper. Shake gently so salt mixture is evenly distributed. Slice one lime and wedge and ring the wedge around the rim of the glass to dampen. Place the rim of the glass in the salt mixture.

Pour margarita into glass. Add lime slices and jalapeños for garnish. TIP IT ON BACK!
